As we all wait to see what the impact of the virus will be, let's take a moment to reflect on what is truly important in life.
The fact is, nobody knows what the future holds.
“A small event as tiny as a drop of a pin can change the direction of your entire life.” Bangambiki Habyarimana, from "Pearls of Eternity"
And I daresay the converse is also true: a seemingly huge event may have no impact whatsoever.
What is truly important in life cannot be taken away by a virus.
Enjoying time with family and friends, listening to a cat purr, working hard at something you enjoy or believe in, watching the clouds roll by... the list is endless, and it is different for everyone.
We are all under immense pressure in our daily lives, as we juggle the demands of work, family, faith, etc. And the pandemic that we now face surely adds to our stress. But there is a silver lining to the cloud, if only that we are all slightly more aware of the things that make life worth living.
So remember to laugh and to love, and to live life fully in the midst of this situation, as we will somehow get through it and the many others that will no doubt follow. Please share your thoughts and feelings in the comments, below, and above all, be safe.
Update
We are now several months into this, with no end in sight. Everybody on lockdown, schools closed, restaurants empty, the two trillion (with a "T") stimulus has just been approved. The world is forever changed. In America I suspect this will spell the end of the middle class. Your thoughts?
